About the event

Creative Places Baltinglass, under the Seed Funding Scheme 2024, invites applications from artists of all disciplines based in Baltinglass and West Wicklow.

The fund is open from Monday, 12th February, and at 4 pm. One award of €5,000 and three awards of €2,000 will be made with a total fund of €11,000 to be allocated under this round.

The fund is intended to receive high-quality applications featuring innovative ways to increase engagement between people, arts, culture, heritage, climate action, biodiversity and creativity. The scheme is open to artists and local community arts, heritage, biodiversity and cultural groups.

Awarded projects can include artistic interventions, socially engaged arts projects, performances, exhibitions, podcasts, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and creative engagements for children and young people.

The first round of the scheme was introduced in 2023 and saw five Baltinglass artists receiving €1,000 each to get their creative projects off the ground. Following the success of the first round, the revised scheme will offer almost double the €6,000.00 first-round investment.

The application form can be accessed and has to be submitted online via the Submittable platform. The application deadline is Monday, 8th April 2024, at 4 pm. Projects must take place in the Baltinglass townland area.

There will be a Seed Funding Clinic as part of the programme of the next Artist's Gathering and Networking event taking place on Monday,11thof March, at 7.30 pm, in Horan's, Baltinglass, and to give the potential applicants an opportunity to ask any questions related to the application process while networking with their local peers.

The event will also feature some of the successful applicants from 2023:

Eoin O'Malley with his happening Tracks; Gerard Gormley with his film Trash; John Hughes with his film The Fuel of Youth; Mairead Kelly(Inisfail Social Circle) with her Audio Tour for The Hillfort Capital of Ireland; Siobhán Madden with her Community Dye Garden project and Mark Caplice with his collaborative intercultural music project Building Bridges.

Led by Wicklow County Council's Arts Office, the scheme has been designed to support the creative community in Baltinglass and is an important part of the delivery of the Creative Places Baltinglass programme, funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.
